Originally a translator and interpreter, Christa Saredi started in the film industry as head of international promotion for SWISS FILMS in 1980. She then worked as a production and sales assistant and as a publicist on several international and Swiss films and as a consultant for the Locarno and Rotterdam film festivals.

In 1986, she founded World Sales Christa Saredi, a sales company specializing in promotion and international distribution of quality films that were presented at all important film festivals and markets, many of them winning significant prizes and being released all over the world.

Over the years, Christa Saredi has discovered the directors Jim Jarmusch, Aki Kaurismäki, Michael Haneke, and made decisive contributions to their careers. She sold crowdpleasing titles by Ang Lee, Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg, co-financed and co-produced several films and represented many more directors from all over the world, such as Bent Hamer, Assi Dayan, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Hal Hartley, Lucrecia Martel, Mira Nair, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Pan Nalin, Arturo Ripstein.

She is co-founder and board-member of the company that created RiffRaff (Zurich) and runs Bourbaki (Lucerne) – with 8 of Switzerland’s most attractive arthouse screens.

Christa Saredi now works as a consultant, guest speaker and trainer at international film industry events, schools and training programmes and is a member of national and international evaluation committees.
